A couple of weeks ago I listened to a sermon discussing science and Christianity. During the sermon the pastor talked about a protein called laminin.

According to Wikipedia, the laminin protein “is vital to making sure overall body structures hold together”. Additionally, Wikipedia states that “the laminin protein is made up of three separate parts, called the A, B1, and B2 chains”.

The neat aspect of laminin is its design. Below is an image showing the protein’s structure and a close-up image using an electron microscope. The photo is courtesy of the Breathe Deep blog.

I do not think laminin is a sign pointing to the evidence of Christ and his ultimate sacrifice. For me, though, it does serve as a gentle reminder of how the Lord Most High is awesome (Psalm 47:2).

Here is a good article talking about being a little cautious before proclaiming laminin as the great sign of Christ’s sacrifice.

Here are a few scripture verses talking about God’s awesomeness:

  • Psalm 47:2 – For the Lord Most High is awesome. He is the great King of all the earth.
  • Psalm 68:35 – God is awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
  • Psalm 77:14 – You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.
  • Psalm 99:3 – Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy!
